The Rolyan Sof-Stretch Extension Finger Splint is a splint ideal for PIP joint tightness, contractures, and boutonniere deformity. It uses dynamic force to assist the PIP joint into extension with minimal extension of the MCP joint. The splint is adjustable by stretching and pressing the wires for a perfect fit to your finger. If significant modifications are needed to the extension splint, move up to a large size.
Applying the Finger Extension Splint
The angled distal pad applies pressure evenly, providing complete surface contact. The “P” on the proximal pad reminds the patient to apply the splint with the P near the palm. For appropriate sizing, measure the corresponding finger on the unaffected hand, with the finger straight, from distal palmar crease to distal finger crease.
Daily Joint Management
The adjustable Sof-Stretch Splint is suited for the regular management of fractures, jamming injuries, and joint stiffness. The adjustable plastic-coated wires accommodate finger size and fluctuations in edema. At the end of the day, it cleans easily with warm water and mild soap. Then, merely allow it to air dry before you re-apply the splint.
